Robert Graham, flute, 2009 Young Artist Winner First Place

Robert Graham, is the son of Tom and Judy Graham and will be a senior at Eastmont High School this coming fall.  His musical interests include the flute and classical as well as jazz piano.  He has studied flute for six years with Beth Jensen and piano for ten years with Linda Butler.  Robert's school activities include tennis, student newspaper, drafting and robotics competitions.  He has participated in Eastmont bands and jazz bands, and he is currently the jazz pianist for the Eastmont Eclipse Jazz Choir.

Arita Acton, viola, 2009 Young Artist Winner Second Place

Arita Acton is the daughter of Dan and Lorna Acton. She lives near Leavenworth and will be a junior in high school this coming fall.  Arita started taking violin lessons from Sharon Tveton in January 2003 and decided to also learn the violin in August 2005.  She plays both instruments but the viola is her instrument of choice.  Arita has given solo violin and viola recitals through Sharon Tveten's studio.  She has been involved with the Icicle Creek Youth Symphony since 2005 and has been the principal viola since 2006.  She has also participated in the Icicle Creek chamber program and Summer Symphony.  Arita is a member of the Arioso String Trio whose performances include playing for Leavenworth's Christmas Lighting Festivals.

Sarah Kintner, flute, Young Artist Winner, 2007

Sarah Kintner is currently a senior at Wenatchee High School and has been studying with Beth Jensen since the age of 7.  During July 2008 Sarah attended Lutheran Summer Music Academy at Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota. During her young career she has performed with the Wenatchee Valley Symphony, Lake Chelan Bach Fest, Icicle Youth Symphony, Grace Lutheran Church, was in the pit orchestra for the Wenatchee High School production of CATS and Music Theater of Wenatchee’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar.  She has received Superior ratings at the Regional WMEA Solo & Ensemble contest for the past 7 years.  She  performed this duet at the State Solo & Ensemble Contest in 2007 and she also performed at the 2008 State Solo & Ensemble contest.  Sarah’s parents are Mike and Tammy Kintner.
