When the orchestra and chorus meet at Christmas, the hall itself seems to join the score. Heaven and Nature Signs brings the Wenatchee Valley Symphony Orchestra and Columbia Chorale together for an evening of carols, concert showpieces, and the kind of communal singing that turns an audience into part of the performance.
Expect the grandeur of Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus and soaring settings of O Holy Night, O Come, All Ye Faithful, Joy to the World, the sparkle of Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride; and richly arranged favorites—Masters in This Hall, Do You Hear What I Hear?, The First Noel, Mark Hayes’s Gloria in Excelsis Deo, and a festive Christmas Fantasia. You will be invited to sing along. Come ready to listen—and ready to lift your voice.
Nik’s Notes
This is my favorite tradition of the season. Tchaikovsky’s music is incredible and I never tire of the dances and melodies. But, it is also a ballet that includes performers of all ages and abilities. If I weren’t already conducting, I would audition for a part in the show!
