Building a Sound Tomorrow
The Wenatchee Valley Symphony Orchestra is proud to launch the Maestro Fund, a new endowment campaign to secure the future of live symphonic music in North Central Washington.
An endowment is different from an annual gift. Rather than being spent right away, your contribution becomes part of a permanent fund that is invested for the long term. Each year, only a small percentage of the fund's earnings is used to support the orchestra. This means your gift keeps giving, year after year, indefinitely. The principal itself is never spent.
For more than a decade, it has been my privilege to make music with the Wenatchee Valley Symphony Orchestra and to share that music with this remarkable community. The Maestro Fund is about ensuring that this orchestra continues to thrive—not just for us today, but for the generations of musicians and audiences who will come after us. The Music Director’s Position
Endowing this role means WVSO can attract and retain exceptional artistic leadership, season after season, without depending on year-to-year fundraising. Dr. Nikolas Caoile has led the orchestra since 2010. Endowment protects that continuity—and the next generation of leadership after him.)
The Youth Orchestra Program & Student Scholarships
Each year, the Wenatchee Valley Youth Orchestra gives more than 100 young musicians from across North Central Washington the chance to train and perform at a high level. Launched in 2022 and now entering its fifth season, the program offers three ensembles, weekly coaching, and side-by-side performances with the Symphony. Need-based scholarships keep tuition among the lowest in the region so no student is turned away for lack of funds.
Since 2011, the Angela Schuster Svendsen Memorial Young Musician Competition has awarded cash scholarships and a featured solo appearance with WVSO to outstanding high school musicians from Chelan, Douglas, Grant, Kittitas, and Okanogan Counties.
Executive Director’s Position & Office Staff
A small professional staff—Executive Director, finance, and office support—runs the concerts, oversees fundraising, marketing Youth Orchestra, donor relations, and day-to-day operations that volunteers alone cannot sustain. Endowing these positions means WVSO can plan seasons, steward gifts, and serve the community without rebuilding its administrative core every year.

A gift to the Maestro Fund can take several forms.
Outright gift of cash, check, or credit card
Gift of appreciated securities or stock
Legacy giving: a bequest in your will, a beneficiary designation, or a gift through a donor-advised fund
ALL donations must be made directly to the Community Foundation of NCW (CFNCW) and designated to the Wenatchee Valley Symphony Orchestra Maestro Fund.
